Students should prepare for class by reading the assigned reading material.  i will send the assignments to the parent notification email with comments on how the students are progressiing.    The students should also practice the vocabulary words (also known as sight words) at home before coming to class. 

The quizzes are not meant to be scary.  only 10% of the grade will be from the quiz scores.

2. There is a Bird on Your Head by Mo /Willems isbn: 978-1-4231-0686-9
3. Little House in the Big Woods by Garth Williams isbn: 978-0-06-440001-5
4. The Wizard of Oz by j. Frank Barm isbn: 978-60433-542-2
5. The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind by William Kamkwamba and Bryan Mealer isbn: 978-0--1475-10426
6. A Child's Garden of Verses by Robert Louis Stevenson
and finally, i will be bringing in a copy of Aesop's Fables isbn: 978-1-60433-810-2. it is a beautiful book but we are using many books.

Grading (评分标准):

Most of the grade will be on proof the students have read the materal. This i accomplished by the students stating their reaction to the books.  10% wil be from scores on the vocabulary quizzes.  Attendance will be an additional 10%.  

My goal is for the students to enjoy reading the books and sharing their reactions.  They are welcome to bring in other books they have enjoyed reading by the authors of the textbooks.
