Course Description (课程介绍):

This AMC 8 prep course builds strong foundations in prealgebra, number theory, algebra, geometry, counting, and probability using the Art of Problem Solving – Prealgebra curriculum. Through targeted lessons, past contest problems, weekly challenges, and mock exams, students develop problem-solving fluency, logical reasoning, and test-taking strategies. The course emphasizes persistence, creativity, and collaboration to prepare students for success in the AMC 8 and beyond.

Objectives (教学目标):

By the end of this course, students should be able to:

1. **Apply core prealgebra concepts** (arithmetic, algebra, geometry, number theory, probability) to solve AMC 8–level problems.

2. **Analyze and break down multi-step problems** using logical reasoning and strategic thinking.

3. **Demonstrate fluency** in problem-solving strategies commonly used in AMC8 contest.

4. Approach unfamiliar problems with **confidence and persistence**.

Teaching Methods (教学方法):

This course uses a blended, problem-solving–focused approach that combines:

  • Interactive instruction to introduce and clarify key concepts.

  • Guided practice with worked examples and step-by-step reasoning.

  • Collaborative problem solving in small groups to share strategies and build communication skills.

  • Contest-style challenges to develop speed, accuracy, and creative thinking.

  • Regular feedback and reflection to help students learn from mistakes and refine techniques.

The emphasis is on active participation — students learn by doing, discussing, and thinking critically, rather than passively memorizing.

Student/Parent Responsibilities (学生,家长责任义务):

**Students:**

- Complete all assigned homework before next class.

- Actively participate in discussions and group activities.

- Attempt problems independently before seeking help.

- Keep a dedicated notebook for problem records & reflection.

**Parents:**

- Provide a quiet study environment at home.

- Monitor and encourage consistent practice.

- Communicate with instructor about challenges or special needs.
