I started teaching Music starting in my high school years. Having finished my education in Tianjin art high school and Tianjin Conservatory of Music and won 3rd place award in Vocal music competition in China,
I came to North America and have taught Piano and vocal music in both Mandarin Chinese
and English. Since 2000, I have also taught Mandarin Chinese in public and private schools. I have been actively involved in numerous Chinese community Culture events as a performing artist (both vocal Music and Chinese instrument),
organizer and host of culture events including being Master of Ceremonies (Emcee) for grand opening of University of Kansas Confucius Institute
My most memorable moment in North America is 1994 University of Chicago Concert - In that Distant Realm (在那遥远的地方)-- Music of the Silk Road. Singing and dancing in 赶巴扎 (Catch Bazaar) as granddaughter of Robin Wang . (西部歌王-王洛宾, http://baike.baidu.com/view/26628.htm), a legendary Chinese folk musician who has collected the Silk Road folk songs from northwest China for all his life.
I have been the only actress ever performed together with Robin Wang in North America.
I enjoy sharing with students my love for Chinese music, art, culture and history. From preschool kids to big boys and girls who are preparing for SAT Subject Test in Chinese with Listening, Learning Mandarin Chinese will be fun....
